UG Alumni Association Hands Over Hotspot Comfort Zone to University of Ghana

The University of Ghana Alumni Association has officially handed over the newly completed Hotspot Comfort Zone to the University of Ghana in a brief but significant ceremony on campus.

In a striking coincidence, just as rain fell on the day of the sod-cutting for the project, the skies once again opened on the day of the handing over—symbolising, many noted, a blessing on the initiative.

Speaking at the event, Chairperson of the Alumni Association Council, Ms. Doris Kisiwa Ansah, reminded students of the intended purpose of the facility, urging them to use it as a space for study and rest—not for playing or sleeping overnight. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, echoed this advice. She commended the Alumni Association for their swift execution of the project, describing it as a practical expression of her vision under the Vice Chancellor’s Initiative, which seeks to improve the student experience on campus.

Representing the student body, the SRC Vice President expressed gratitude to the Alumni Association for their commitment to student welfare. He further appealed to the Association to consider replicating the project on the University’s satellite campuses to extend its benefits to even more students.

The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including members of the Alumni Association Council; the Registrar of the University, Mrs. Emilia Agyei-Mensah; Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research, Innovation and Development), Professor Felix Asante; Dean of Students Affairs, Professor Rosina Kyeremanten; as well as Directors from Public Affairs, the IT Directorate, and PDMSD. Also present were the Provosts of the Colleges of Humanities and of Basic and Applied Sciences.

The Hotspot Comfort Zone is expected to provide students with a conducive environment for learning and relaxation, reinforcing the University’s commitment to enhancing academic life and student well-being.
