SRC YI BI BOAH SCHOLARSHIP
Education over the world has been identified as the key to unearthing Human Resource potentials. When properly executed it contributes significantly to national development and therefore must be accorded high recognition, given attention and treated with eminent importance.
Government, Corporate bodies, the Youth, Parents, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), development partners and the media must all join in encouraging and supporting the Youth to embrace education through the assistance of scholarships to brilliant and needy students.
The prime objective of the Student Representative Council (SRC) is to advocate in the interest of Students and come out with proactive steps that will ameliorate some of the challenges facing over 30,000 students of the University.
As the National Youth Policy States “the youth are valuable resources and they must be harnessed for National development” as a result, the Student Representative Council (SRC) of the University of Ghana which is the mouthpiece of the entire students of the University has therefore introduced a scholarship Scheme to assist ‘brilliant and needy’ students of its community to access their university education. This scheme is called ‘Yi bi boa’ (a Twi saying which means ‘give something to assist’) scholarship scheme.
This is a scholarship scheme by students and for students. The over 30,000 students of the University are making contributions of GHS 2 per person towards the scheme every.
