University of Ghana to Participate in 10th FASU Games

The University of Ghana (UG) will be making a third appearance at the 10th Federation of African Universities Sports (FASU) Games. FASU, the biggest tertiary sports festival on the African Continent, is scheduled to take place at the Kenyatta University, Nairobi, Kenya from 4th to 11th June, 2022.

Since the rules were changed for individual Universities from member countries to participate in the Games, rather than national University delegations, UG has participated in the 8th and 9th editions hosted by University of Johannesburg, South Africa and Mekelle University, Ethiopia in 2016 and 2018 respectively. In 2016, Team UG won four gold, seven silver and five bronze medals in five disciplines. This performance improved in 2018 as the Team won five gold, one silver and one bronze medals in three disciplines (Basketball, Badminton and Tennis) to place fifth on the medal table.

Out of the twelve (12) disciplines, UG will participate in five (5) namely; Athletics, Basketball, Badminton, Table Tennis and Tennis during the 2022 Games. The University of Ghana Basketball Team will defend its trophy won back to back in 2016 and 2018.
